Tonight
Making the bunk beds had something particularly gratifying about it. I know the kids will sleep in it for over a year, and they’ll probably grow to like every nuance of grain and odd joint in the wood. The bed is the single place they’ll spend most of their time in, so we want them to be extra cozy.
The beds will be their area, that they can withdraw to if they feel like it. It should feel safe and private. There will be books and loved things in there and they’ll have curtains to retreat from the rest of the bus.
Exciting times
When Elliott saw the bunks for the first time, he was pretty excited about hanging out in there. In fact, both boys were, piling up in it on top of each other. The bottom bunk is pretty spaceous, as it’s made to pull out to a kids’ double bed. Sleep overs are in order. Stoked!

Build it
The bunks are partly preused material; recycled Rimu, and I cut up our previous double bed’s slats. Commitment to being on the road, forever, as we have no more bed to return to ;).
Hannah, Thomas… es ist so schön Euch zu sehen, und natürlich Otis und Elliott, der groß geworden ist. Heidi hat mir eben den Link zu Eurer Seite geschickt, ich bin gerade im Büro. Ich wußte nicht, dass es diese Seite gibt.
Ich bin überwältigt und gerührt! A dream has finally come true… und wir dürfen Zeugen sein. Der Bus ist so unglaublich gut und schön geworden. Ich verneige mich vor Euch. Und freue mich mit ganzem Herzen für Euch (und bedauere gerade ein wenig, dass ich nicht ein bisschen unabhängiger und mutiger bin).
Schön ist, dass wir Euch ein wenig auf der groß(da ist wieder dieser merkwürdige Buchstabe)en Reise begleiten dürfen. Wir schauen jetzt häufiger vorbei und erzählen Euch auch ein bisschen von Lenz, der seit 2 Wochen Fahrrad fährt, und Juni, die seit einem Monat trocken ist.
Ihr habt den Kompass aufgehängt 🙂
Vorerst gute Fahrt und immer eine Handbreit Benzin im Tank.
