I’ve been practicing hand-lettering. It’s amazing how thinking “heavy downstrokes, light upstrokes” makes ALL the difference. And a few flourishes thrown in for good measure.
I’m a newbie to meditation but I’m learning that it really does set me up for the day when I manage to sit for 20 minutes in the morning.
Our bus, Liberty the Great, has been parked up in beautiful Motueka for the past few nights, and we’ve been dining extravagantly on buttery, garlicky cockles dug from the mudflats. Foraged food is so satisfying.

On seeing this drawing Otis immediately concluded it was of him, and spotted the obvious flaw at once. “Where are all my weapons? I have no harpoon or pistol or cannon.” I obviously know nothing about pirates.
Inspired by this post, today’s drawing is a self portrait. It was an interesting exercise not to look in the mirror or try to make it accurate, but just to draw things I know about myself.
